Obituary

Phoebe E. Granholm, 99, of Belvidere, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, December 7, 2017 at Maple Crest Care Center after a lingering illness. She was born September 4, 1918 in Boone County, IL, the daughter of Swan and Anna (Anderson) Persson. Phoebe married the love of her life, Clarence Granholm on April 22, 1944 in Belvidere. She graduated from Belvidere High School. Phoebe was employed by the National Sewing Machine Company and Time Screw as a machine operator. She was a lifelong faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Belvidere, where she served on the Altar Guild, WELCA, and in the Pioneer Club. Phoebe enjoyed playing cards, watching baseball and golf. She liked crocheting and needlework. Most of all, Phoebe enjoyed spending time with her family.

Phoebe is loved and missed by her daughter, Nancy Granholm of Belvidere, niece and nephew, Linda Remsen and Allen Persson, cousin, Karin Hallen, and several great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Harold Persson.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church, 1300 Pearl Street, Belvidere, IL, 61008 with Rev. Scott Stolberg officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00-10:45 a.m., prior to service. Burial in Highland Garden of Memories. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
