Phillip G. "Phil" Knox, 73, of Belvidere, went to be with the Lord, Monday, May 22, 2017 after a short illness with his wife, Carol, by his side. Born March 19, 1944 in Belvidere, son of Ralph and Lillian (Schwedersky) Knox. Phil served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era. He married Carolynn "Carol" on September 16, 1972 in Belvidere. Phil worked for the railroad for 35 years, starting with Chicago Northwestern and retiring from Union Pacific. He was a devoted member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Belvidere. Phil was a lifetime member of the VFW #1461 and the American Legion #77.

Phil is loved and missed by his wife, Carolynn, brother, Gerald (Velma) Knox, sister-in-laws, Donna Knox, Lois Knox, and Marilynn Riske, brother-in-law, Ken of Wisconsin, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, David Knox and Ralph Knox, brother-in-laws, LeRoy and Al, and nephew, Mark Knox.
