Belvidere, IllinoisPeggy Jane McCabe, 84, of Belvidere, Illinois died Thursday, June 29, 2006 in Maple Crest Nursing Home after a lingering illness. Peggy was born May 30, 1922 in Belvidere, Illinois the daughter of William and Frances (Born) McCabe. Peggy graduated from Belvidere High School, St. Anthony School of Nursing, earned her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Rockford College in 1961 and her Master's Degree in 1968. Peggy was a nurse at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center and an Associate Professor of Nursing at Rockford College. Peggy was a member of St. James Catholic Church, past president of the 3rd District of the Illinois Nurse's Association, life long member of the Boone Co. Historical Society. In 1979, Rockford Mayor McGaw proclaimed the month of November as "Peggy McCabe Month". Peggy was also recognized by the Belvidere High School "Spotlight on Success".Survivors include her niece, Katherine (Carl) Miller of Brooksville, FL; nephews, William (Arlene) Anderson of San Antonio, TX and Robert (Mary) Anderson of Belvidere, IL and numerous great-nieces and nephews.Peggy is predeceased by her parents; brother, Clements; sister, Marie and niece; Frances Roland.
