IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patricia "Pat"
Ann Preston
July 16, 1940 – June 20, 2025
Patricia Ann Preston (aka Pat, Grandma, G-money, and GiGi) was born July 16th, 1940 in Belvidere, IL and died June 20th, 2025. She is preceded in death by Don Preston (husband), Michael Preston (son), Marjorie and Clarence Midkirk (mom and dad), and Paula Midkirk (sister). She is survived by her daughters (Kim Dennis and Marjorie Preston),son-in-law (John "Regi" Dennis), grandkids, great grandkids, cousins, and other family members.
She was the ultimate fiery, independent woman through the end of her life. In her prime, you would find her cooking up elaborate meals for the people she loved, outside tackling her immaculate lawn, watching her kids' and grandkids' sporting events, or singing (with her beautiful voice) in the PGUMC chorus.
Patricia Preston was always up for playing a card game/really any game, and was known for telling people that "cheated" that in the Wild West they would be "shot under the table." She passed down this love of games to her family members. Bowling, baseball (Chicago Cubs), and football (Chicago Bears) were some of the games that she loved, and her son, Michael, shared in the joy of these games.
She was both an analytical thinker and a creative. Her portraits of family members were legendary. Her and her husband's dance moves were captivating. Her John Grisham books were plentiful. And her skills as a buyer at Barber Colman were top notch.
Pat Preston was one of the most consistent Bible/devotional readers with her Upper Room always on her dining room table ready to read the next day. Her love of the Lord was top of mind for her each and every day. She was such a devoted member of Poplar Grove United Methodist Church that she even attended grade school in its basement.
Food was one of the biggest ways that Pat showed her love. And boy did her family know she loved them. Her meatloaf and pot roast will be remembered throughout the generations fondly.
This 4th of July will be a little less bright, colorful, and sparkly. The ice cream social at Lake Geneva will be a little less fun. And the food at Red Lobster will be a little less warm.
Her family and friends will forever love and miss her.
Pat's visitation will be Sunday, June 29th at 1:30pm at Poplar Grove United Methodist Church located at 105 E Grove St, Poplar Grove, IL 61065. Funeral service to follow at 2pm with burial at Belvidere Cemetery.
