Orin Thies, 81, of Belvidere, IL died in Belvidere, December 13, 2021. He was born November 8, 1940, in Belvidere, son to Franklin and Leone (Nelson) Thies. He married his sweetheart, Anita Garwick, September 2, 1961, in Belvidere. He was a high school graduate and worked for RC Cola as a distributor and later worked in route sales for 17 years at Hostess as a route sales manager. He also worked for Butternut Bread, where he retired as a route salesman. He attended Heartland Community Church and loved woodworking, especially with pine, building beautiful rocking horses for craft shows. Orin also loved working in his yard and was a proud recipient of the Garden Club's Yard of The Month.

Orin is loved and will be dearly missed by his wife, Anita; sons, Kevin (Sandi) Thies and Kerry (Traci) Thies; half-brother, David Thies; half-sisters, Carol Simon and Sharon Carroll; grandchildren, Nathan Thies, Paige Thies, and Gracie Thies; and step grandson, Michael Drane

He is preceded in death by his parents; and stepmom, Lorraine.

A visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021, with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m., at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL 61008.
