A Life remembered
Odetta Louise (Peterson) Holder, age 85 of Rochelle, Illinois, went to join her Lord and Savior on March 22, 2018. She was born on February 2, 1933 in Genoa, Nebraska to Godfrey and Lilly (Johnson) Peterson. She graduated Genoa High School, Nebraska in 1950. Soon after she moved east to Genoa, Illinois. She married in November of 1956, and had three children. She ended up being a single mom, and raised her kids by babysitting other's kids so she could be there and available 100% of the time for her own kids. In 1979 she moved to Rochelle. She worked 20+ years for Clark gas station. Odetta was a member of Harvest Baptist Church for many years, serving on the worship team, assisting the treasurer, and was on the prayer team.
On April 19, 1970, she made a decision that would change life, and eternity, she made Jesus LORD of her Life. From that day on her goal in life was to have others join her in eternity in Heaven.
Odetta loved her regular visits with her sisters and nieces, and getting texts and emails from dear friends.
Odetta was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Raymond (Bud)Peterson; sisters, Elaine Campbell, Vivian Hokanson, Marilyn Jacobson; grandson, Caleb Holder; and four nephews and one niece along with one unborn child.
Odetta is survived by one sister, Lillian Roush of Schaumburg, Il; two sons, Jeff (Susan) Holder of DeKalb and Don Holder of Lindenwood; one daughter, Tammy (Dan) Schmidt of Polo, Il; five grandchildren, Joshua (Teresa) Holder of Kingston, Il, Michael (Danielle) Holder of Muscatine, IA, Christopher and Sierra Holder of DeKalb, Il and Jerrod Martin of Lindenwood, Il; four great grandchildren, Kayla, Ripley, Levi and Nora; and two very special kids Ethan and Alexis Roland.
There will be a private burial at Highland Garden of Memories. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Harvest Baptist Church, 241 Scott Avenue, Rochelle, IL 61068, with visitation at 1 p.m. and service at 2 p.m.
