Odessa P. Powell, 90, of Belvidere, IL died peacefully, early Saturday morning, July 12, 2014 in her home surrounded by loving friends, Barbara and Tom Levens, Mel and Lita Johnson, and Victoria Gomashie.  Odessa was born November 13, 1923 in Henderson, KY, the daughter of Jacob and Etta (Carroll) Walborn.  She married Donald E. Powell on December 4, 1965 in Granville, IL. Prior to her marriage, Odessa worked as a supervisor for AT&T Telephone.  She adopted and cared for many many cats over the years.

Odessa is loved and will be missed by her nieces and nephews, friends and care giver Victoria Gomashie.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald in 1997; sisters, Myrtle Acuncius and Marie Dean Drennen.

Funeral services will be held at noon, Wednesday, July 16, 2014 in Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Chapel, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL with Rev. Nord Swanstrom, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church of Belvidere officiating.
