Dr. Norman John Schroeder, DDS, age 91 of Rockford and formerly of Belvidere, IL died Tuesday afternoon, May 22, 2007 in P.A. Peterson Health Care Center after a short illness. Norman was born October 8, 1915 in La Grange, IL the son of Otto A. and Clara (Hibbing) Schroeder. He graduated from Palatine High School, attended Northwestern University 1933-1935; graduated from Northwestern University Dental School in 1939.Dr. Schroeder moved to Belvidere, IL in September of 1939 and established his dental practice. Norman married Mildred L. Bremer in Belvidere on May 17, 1941. He was drafted into the US Army in September of 1941, with basic training at Camp Grant, Rockford, IL. Norman was commissioned as 1st Lieutenant, US Army Dental Corps. He served in various military bases in Tennessee, New York and Texas. Dr. Schroeder served the 110th Station Hospital in New Guinea from November 1943 to December 1945 and discharged from the Army in January 1946 at rank of Major.Dr. Schroeder was a member of Christ the Rock Lutheran Church, lifetime member of Belvidere Lions Club, from 1939 to present, with Life Fellowship Status.; VFW and American Legion. He was a member of the Winnebago County Dental Society serving as President, V.P, Treasurer and Secretary. Dr. Schroeder was an avid fisherman, enjoying many trips to Minnesota and Ontario, Canada.Survivors include his son, Dr. Norman J. (Wendy) Schroeder, II of Green Bay, WI; grandchildren, Lisa L. Schroeder of Danville, PA and Eric M. Schroeder of Denver, CO. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mildred, brother, Walter G. Schroeder.

Memorials can be given in care of Christ the Rock Lutheran Church in Norman's name.
