Obituary

Norman "Jim" Gleason, 77, of Cherry Valley, IL died peacefully, September 16, 2020 in Rockford, IL. He was born to Harold and Edna (Palmer) Gleason, November 2, 1942 in Sycamore, IL and grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, IL. He received his Master's Degree and worked as a contract accountant for many years. He also taught accounting at Rockford Career College and was a part time security guard for Arnold Engineering in Marengo, IL. He attended church in Sycamore and became an Elder there. He later attended Immanuel Lutheran Church where he became a Deacon. He was highly involved with the church. Jim belonged to the Elks and the Eagles Club. Interests included bowling and adventurous walks. He played clarinet and was in a band during his high school years. Jim loved to travel and cared deeply for his good friend for life, Mina Johnson.

Jim is loved and will be dearly missed by his loyal friend, Mina; daughter, Carrie (Dan) Thomas; grandchild, Aidan; and Mina's children and grandchildren who were very special to Jim.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Raymond.

A visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 , Saturday, October 24, 2020 , at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1045 Belvidere Road, Belvidere, IL ( Please enter door #4, near the playground). A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Braun Campbell officiating. Social distancing and face mask are encouraged.In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to American Heart Association or Alzheimer's Association.
