Obituary

Rockford, ILNorma E. Grenlund-Sattelberg, 76, of Rockford, IL died peacefully, Wednesday evening, March 21, 2012 in her home. Norma was born September 13, 1935 in Chicago the daughter of Edward F. and Nadine (Sutton) Hartmann. She grew up in DesPlaines, IL, graduated from Arlington Heights High School, and attended Iowa State College, Ames, Iowa. She married James A. Grenlund from Capron, in DesPlaines in 1956. They lived in Germany for two years then moved to Capron until 1993.Norma was an active member of Capron United Methodist Church since joining in 1958 and has been an associate member of Christ United Methodist Church in Rockford since 2002. Norma was active in the Capron community in various capacities. She was an active member of the National T.T.T. Society from her initiation in 1959 until her death through service in her local chapter, the Illinois State Board, and the National Executive Board. She was also active in the Illinois Cattlewomen in Boone County and served on the Illinois State Board. Norma also found great joy and love in volunteering.After leaving the farm she was employed as a floral designer, as a sales associate at Bergner's in CherryVale, and as an enrollment and reporting specialist at Rockford Health Plans until her retirement in 2002 when she married retired United Methodist Pastor Carl A. Sattelberg. She lived at Wesley Willows Retirement Community and was active there from 2002 until her death. Norma is loved and will be missed by her husband Carl; daughter Deborah Grenlund (Tedd) Long; son Steven (Roxann) Grenlund; granddaughters Jessica and Kayla Grenlund, Caitlin (Long) Keener; father of her children Jim Grenlund; stepchildren Marcia Sattelberg, Nancy (Chad) Kincheloe, Wesley (Pam) Sattelberg, Mark (Jane) Sattelberg; step grandchildren Meagan Matthew, Ben Sattelberg, Christopher Kincheloe, Tyler, Carson and Dylan Coffey; one niece and four nephews including her godson Todd Hartman; special friends Bosa and Mark Suljic. Norma is predeceased by her parents; brother and sister in-law Richard and Barbara Hartmann.Norma's family would like to acknowledge the love and tender care and guidance given by Dr. Toby Campbell and the staff of UW Madison Carbone Cancer Center, as well as the staff of Heartland Hospice.
