Nicholas J. Stima, 87, of Belvidere, IL passed away peacefully, Wednesday evening, November 18, 2015 at Maple Crest Care Center, Belvidere, IL. Nicholas was born August, 14, 1928 in Rockford, IL the son of Joseph and Mildred (Radanovich) Stima. He married Barbara Buhl on October 31, 1954; in Belvidere, IL, they just celebrated 61 years of marriage. He served our country with the United States Army, was a foundry worker, security guard and most recently worked for the Illinois Tollway. Nicholas was a life time Cubs fan and an avid Bears fan. His love for sports led him to be an umpire for youth and high school baseball. He loved his church, Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he made a spiritual home; music, and attending his grandchildren's sporting and music events.

Nicholas is loved and will be missed by his wife, Barbara; children, Rhonda (James) Vaccarello, Douglas (Christi) Stima, Renee Stima; brother, Sam Stima; sister, Joy Jacobs; grandchildren, Andrew (Vilma), Nathan and Daniel Burris, Taylor (Katie) and Olivia Stima, Zinna, Bayza and Meezahn Senbetta; and numerous nieces and nephews. Nicholas is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 23, 2015 in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1045 Belvidere Rd, Belvidere, IL 61008 with Rev. Allan Buss Officiating.  Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. till 4 p.m., Sunday at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
