Neva Laura (Sellers) Hines, 89, of Belvidere, died July 29, 2014 at Crimson Pointe Assisted Living, Rockford, IL. Neva was born January 19, 1925 in Marengo, Illinois; the daughter of Clarence and Neva (McNeill) Sellers. On September 9, 1945, Neva married Melvin "Bud" Hines in Belvidere, just 6 days after he returned home from WWII. Neva was a devoted and cherished wife and mother. She was a homemaker until her children were all in school, then she worked across from her home for Graves Metal Products. Neva was a longtime member of the VFW Ladies Auxilary Post 1461, and marched with the ladies drill team for many years. She was a good friend to all, especially her motorcycle friends and very special friends Velma Graves and Barb Skelly. Neva was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was a loving and devoted mother to Sherry Cuccinelli of Rockford; and Joyce Dwyer of Las Vegas, NV; awesome grandmother to Thomas Steurer and Nicole Brumback; and Great-grandmother to Zackary and Kaiden Steurer; her special niece and nephew, Judy and Charles Byers of Belvidere as well as many nieces and nephews. Neva is predeceased by parents, husband Bud in 2012, son, Michael in 1980; five brothers, Clarence, Lyle, Jerry, Howard and Edward all of Belvidere; five sisters, Elsie Haley, Margaret Sellers both of Belvidere; Dorothy Anderson of McHenry, IL; Mildred Mayberry and Pearl Loudenbeck, both of Indiana. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Nurses and CNA's for their exceptional care at Crimson Pointe and Northern Illinois Hospice especially her nurse, Matt.
Visitation will be at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services at Buck Wheeler Chapel, 218 West Hurlbut Avenue, Belvidere, Illinois, from 11:00 a.m. to 12 Noon Saturday, August 2, 2014 followed by a funeral service at 12 Noon. Rev. Dean Parker, Chaplain of O.S.F. St. Anthony Medical Center, officiating. Burial in Belvidere Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Northern Illinois Hospice.
