Myron D. Perkins, 91, lifelong resident of Belvidere, died Friday, May 4, 2007 in Rockford Memorial Hospital following a sudden illness. He was born March 30, 1916 in Belvidere, the son of Harry and Gertrude (Seibert) Perkins. He was a graduate of Belvidere High School, Class of 1934. Myron married Brita Wernstrom in Dubuque, Iowa on June 29, 1940, and would have been married 67 years this June. He was manager of Belvidere Corset Company for 27 years and then worked for Knox Motor in charge of the overage / shortage / damage department until retiring in 1986. Myron was a life member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church where he was also a former Treasurer and Senior Warden. He was a charter member of the Boone County Saddle Club and his passion was showing palomino horses with his father, who was a former five term mayor of Belvidere. Myron was kind, caring and generous in deeds and spirit to his friends and neighbors throughout the years. Myron was a loving husband and adored father. He is survived by his wife, Brita, of Belvidere; three daughters, Jeanne Smith, Pecatonica,; Trudy (John) Noren, Greenbrae, Cal.; and Rhonda Perkins, Belvidere; 4 grandchildren, Fletcher Smith, Kara Smith (Justin) Symonds, Lindsay Noren and Jay Noren; two sister in laws, Dorothy Perkins and Barbara (Fred) Harris. Myron is preceded in death by his Parents and two brothers, Alden and Gail Perkins.
