Obituary

Milton Allen Price, 87 of Belvidere, IL died peacefully January 22, 2020, at
OSF St. Anthony Hospital in Rockford, IL. He was born to George and Artie
(Brown) Price on August 10, 1932 in Chicago, IL. Milton married his sweetheart,
Joy (Olson) Price, February 21, 1953 in Chicago. He graduated from Lane Tech
High School in Chicago in January, 1950 and went on to both serve his
carpenter's apprenticeship and graduate from Washburn Trade School in Chicago.
Milton also served in the US Navy Ready Reserves from 1951 to 1955 at the US
Naval Air Station in Glenview, IL.

Milt was a remarkable man, spending nearly sixty years working in
construction and loving every moment of it! His accomplishments in that field
were amazing. Some of the building projects constructed under his supervision
were 3150 Outer Drive East, 400 East Randolph, and 1000 Lakeshore Plaza. The
next project that would have been assigned to him was the John Hancock
building, but he turned that down because he was unwilling to take on the
multi-year, 24/7 commitment that would have taken him away from his family. He
completed many other projects through the years, including dormitories at NIU,
an urban residential development on the Southside of Chicago, Arboretum
Village, shopping malls, and many single-family homes throughout the suburbs.
In all of this, he never boasted about his accomplishments, instead saving his
praise for his loving wife and four beautiful children, and, in later years,
his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Milt would have never retired if his
health had not required him to! He loved sports, both, participating in and
watching, and was an avid Cubs, Bears, and Tiger Woods fan. He loved golfing
and dancing until arthritis would no longer allow him to! Learning to swim was
not his own choice, but was a Lane Tech H.S. requirement. He overcame that fear
and became a great swimmer, eventually going on to teach all of his children
and some of his grandchildren to swim. An unknown fact about Milt is that,
while in Pensacola, Florida with the US Navy Ready Reserves, the sailors had to
jump off the deck of an aircraft carrier. Milt was the only one from his unit
to dive-not just jump feet first- into the Gulf off of the deck of an
aircraft carrier! Milt most enjoyed spending time with the love of his life,
his Joy. And, like her, Milt enjoyed bird watching and a cat cuddled up in his
lap.

Milt will be dearly missed by his daughters, Kimberlee (Kevin) Keenon,
Pamela (Reinhard) Pilz; son, Bradford (Lois) Price; grandchildren, Chris,
Vanessa, Missy, Josh, Wes, Shawn, Mandie, Daniel, Cassie, Allison;
great-grandchildren, Naomi, Paul, Edie, John, Isaac, Jordan, Xander, Bethany,
Carter, Magnolia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joy (Olson); his son, Jeffrey
Allen (JoAnne) Price; sister, Nancy (Bill) Hime; his brothers, Ted Price and Dick
(Mary Ellen) Price; his nephew, Steven Price; and great-grandchild, Willow
Scott.
