IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael David
Preston
July 12, 1964 – November 22, 2024
Michael David Preston, born July 12th, 1964, passed away surrounded by the people he loved on November 22nd, 2024. Mike was Belvidere's number one supporter. He shopped local, he coached baseball at the high school, and he was part of a bowling league at Dodge Lanes for many years of his life. When eating around town, he frequented Sam's Pizza and Uncle John's.
Mike was the ultimate kid at heart, which is ironic because his favorite name to call the people he cared about was "kid". Gone too soon was the athletic, kind, and caring man that touched so many people's hearts around him. Gone too soon are the blueberry muffins and cinnamon rolls forever packed in a gallon freezer bag. Gone too soon are the loveably, creative dance moves and the yabba dabba doos uttered while playing the Flintstone's slot machine.
For 35+ years he worked as an electrician throughout the state of Illinois. And if you ask Kim and Regi, he happily spent 35+ years as their personal family electrician as well. When not at work, you would often times find him on the softball diamond either playing or supporting the many friends he made over his extensive softball career. This contributed to the "Michael factor" aka he knew someone EVERYWHERE he went (and knew them well). Marjorie would constantly be amazed by this skill.
The television was always on at his home, forever tuned to sports or movies. He both got immense joy and immense frustration while watching Notre Dame, the Bears, the Orioles, the Lakers, or the fighting Illini. Although he switched his fandom to the Lakers he rode the Michael Jordan Bulls train just like the rest of the world. When sports wasn't on he usually had his favorite comedy or action movies playing on repeat.
Family and friends were his whole heart, and his family thanks God for every moment spent with him. Mike was dependably present for countless games, graduations, birthdays, and just about anything you needed him for. He will be missed by all immensely.
There will be a "welcome, kid" waiting for us all in heaven.
