Melvin F. Monsen, 90, of Capron, IL died peacefully, June 23, 2021, in Clinton, Wisconsin. He was born December 8, 1930, in Harvard to Arthur E. and Eleanora (Winkleman) Monsen. Melvin attended high school. He married his sweetheart, Charlotte Jean Smith, September 14, 1950, in Capron, IL. He was a lifelong farmer in northern Boone County during which time he served the community in many ways. These include, but are not limited to the Boone County Conservation District, Capron School Board, Boone Township Board, Capron Lutheran Church Council, Harvard Moose and school bus driver. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, boating, bowling and a friendly game of cards. Always willing to help out his family and friends, he is well known and loved in the local community.

Melvin is loved and will be dearly missed by his wife, Charlotte Jean; daughter, Terry (John) Grimm and Sandra (Ron) Spielman; sister, Bernice Griert; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces; and dear friend, Don Meier, who stood by his side through the good and the bad times. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur E. and Eleanora Monsen; son, Brian Dean Monsen; and a great grandson.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at Anderson Funeral & Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL, 61008. A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at the funeral home. Vicar Amanda Monroe will officiate. Burial at Highland Garden of Memories.
