Melinda K. "Mindy" Peterson, 51, of Belvidere, died Thursday, November 29, 2012 in her home after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She was born on May 5, 1961 in Rockford, Illinois; the daughter of Donnie M. and Beverly (Lersch) Johnson. Mindy was a graduate of North Boone High School, class of 1979. She married Carl S. "Scott" Peterson in Belvidere on October 10, 1986. She was an Outreach Coordinator for the Keen Age Center. Mindy and Scott were members of Open Bible Church. Mindy volunteered with the Keen Age Center's Fund raising dinners that were held at the Moose Club. She enjoyed cooking and baking and her cookies were second to none. Mindy enjoyed arts, crafts and ceramics and spending time with her niece and nephews. She was an avid Packer fan. She is survived by her loving husband, Scott, of Belvidere; mother, Beverly Johnson, of Poplar Grove; her twin sister, Belinda "Bindy" Johnson, of Poplar Grove; two sisters, Theresa (Ed) Gustafson of Rockford; Gwen McCormick, of Lac Du Flambeau, Wisconsin; and brother, Mark Johnson, of Durand, Illinois; her niece, Kirsten; six nephews, Shane, Tracy, Nathan, Kyle, Eric and Aaron and other relatives and friends.Melinda was preceded in death by her father and brother-in-law, Ron McCormick.
