Obituary

Maynard Leroy Vaupel, 80, of Belvidere, IL, passed away on January 23, 2024, in Rockford, IL. He was born on May 24, 1943, in Iowa and was the beloved husband of 50 years to his wife Jean.


Maynard leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to his family. He is survived by his loving wife Jean and their children: Rhody (Kelly) O'Brien, Robyn (Halbe) Wynstra, Tracy Taylor, Wendy (Jodi Phillips) Lange, and Jim (Jackie) Vaupel.


Maynard was a devoted family man who treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He found joy in the company of his loved ones and was truly family-oriented. For 35 years, he worked diligently at the Chrysler Plant, demonstrating commitment and perseverance in his career. Outside of work, Maynard found solace and excitement in riding his motorcycle and being a part of the Gold Wing Road Riders Group. Maynard was an avid sports fan; the Minnesota Vikings had a special place in his heart.


Maynard Vaupel was welcomed into heaven by his parents, Edwin and Lena Vaupel, brother Gerald Vaupel, mother-in-law Charlotte Zamzow, sister-in-law June Zamzow, brother-in-law Bill Zamzow, son Scott Vaupel, and grandson Addem Wynstra upon his passing.
