Maynard G. Gustafson, 81, of Belvidere, died Wednesday, October 19, 2011 in O.S.F. St. Anthony Medical Center following a long illness. Born January 14, 1930 in Marengo, Illinois; the son of Carl Alva and Clara (Schauer) Gustafson. He graduated from Marengo High School, class of 1947. Maynard married Dorothy M. Beilke in Genoa, Illinois on July 22, 1950. He was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church, Marengo, and present member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Belvidere. Maynard served in the Army during the Korean War. Maynard and Dorothy were long time residents of Marengo before moving to Belvidere eight years ago. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Kirk (Donna) Gustafson; Scott (Patricia) Gustafson; three grandchildren, Taylor Gustafson, Abigail Gustafson, Karl Gustafson; a brother-in-law, Richard (Carol) Beilke, two sisters-in-law, Arlene Gustafson; Elaine Barry and their families. Maynard is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Wayne.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Zion Lutheran Church in his name.
