Maurine E. Staublin, age 96 of Rockford, Illinois died peacefully, Sunday evening, September 11, 2005 in Fairhaven Christian Home. Maurine was born August 28, 1909 in Normal, Illinois the daughter of Orion F. and Ella (Wolf) Huffington. She was an 80 year resident of Rockford coming from Mt. Morris, Illinois. She married Percy W. Staublin in Rockford on July 12, 1941. Maurine was a 50 plus year member of Court Street United Methodist Church and a former church organist during World War II. As an accomplished musician, Maurine found herself accompanying the Svea Soner's for 23 years as well as being the Alabet Temple #31 Daughter's of the Nile Chorus Director for 43 years. She also belonged to the Rockford Mendelssohn Club. Maurine was proud of her colonial heritage and was a member of the Daughter's of the American Colonist. In her spare time, she volunteered at Walter Lawson Children's Home.Maurine is survived by her son, Gerald Staublin of Charlevoix, MI; daughter, Jeanne Deringer of Portland, OR; grandchildren, Janice Deringer, Jeff (Heather) Deringer, David (Sandra) Staublin, Laura Staublin, and Daniel Staublin; great grandchildren, Philip, Tom, Dana Staublin , Blake and Avery Deringer; and numerous nieces and nephews.Maurine is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Percy and her brother and sister in-law, Carlton (Lona) Huffington
In lieu of flowers, Maurine would wish for memorial contribution to be made to Shriner's Hospitals for Crippled Children.
