Matthew P. Johnson, 55, of Belvidere died peacefully, Sunday January 19, 2014 in his home after a sudden illness. Matthew was born July 15, 1958 in Redlands, CA the son of Phillip and Betty Johnson and Lynn Bullard and Judy (Grubb) Cornwell. Matthew was a carpenter by trade. He enjoyed Harley-Davidson motorcycles, surfing, and spending time at the beach in San Diego and at Lake Shuswap in Canada.

Matthew is loved and will be missed by his children, Kyle Johnson of Belvidere, Charley Huston of Sacramento, CA, Michelle Merritt of Belvidere; mother, Judy Cornwell of Belvidere, father Lynn (Caroline) Bullard of South Beloit, IL , Phillip Johnson of El Cajon, CA; grandchildren Angelina, Sophia, Ezmi, Elijah; brothers and sisters, Reid (Sue) Bullard of Belvidere, Mike Bullard of Belvidere, Daniel Johnson of the Philippine Islands, Betsy Sarrell of Alpine, CA, Jane Oliveira of San Diego, CA, Nancy (Mike) Jackson of Garden Prairie, IL, Dani (Nick) Klaus of Belvidere, Charmaine Cornwell of Belvidere, Ginger (Bill) Blythe of Loves Park, IL, ; close friend and mother of Kyle and Michelle, Sue Hurst; numerous nieces and nephews.
