Matt Ohlsen, 97, of Belvidere, IL, died peacefully, December 9, 2021 in Belvidere, IL. He was born May 31, 1924 in Flint, MI. Son to Mathias and Emma (Peters) Ohlsen. He married his sweetheart, Coralyn on July 7, 1943 in the parsonage at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Belvidere.

He worked as a equipment operator for the City of Belvidere. Matt and Coralyn also owned and operated Ohlsen's Mobil in Belvidere for eight years. After retirement, Matt and Coralyn traveled often to Apache Junction, Arizona where they spent their winters. He loved camping with family and playing card games and was a member of the Northern IL Vintage Tractor and Engine Association.

Matt is loved and missed by his sons, Wayne (Pauline) Ohlsen, Larry (Nora) Ohlsen; Daughter, Trudy (Jeff) Flippo; granddaughters, Julie (Chris Butt) Ohlsen, Amy Ohlsen and Kelly Ohlsen; grandson, Matt (Megan) Ohlsen; great- grandchildren, Emmalee, Allison, Joel, Kelsey, Olivia and Gavin, sister-in-law, Helen Schwedersky as well as many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Coralyn; parents, Matt and Emma; brothers, Louis (Rita) Ohlsen, James (Barbara) Ohlsen; sisters, Helen (Lawrence) Emanuel, Dorothy (Patrick) Stevens; sister-in-law's, Dorothy Terrill and Mildred Sims.

Matt's funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008.
