Mary Jane Spencer, 89, of Belvidere, passed away peacefully, Thursday evening, December 26, 2013 at Maple Crest Care Centre. She was born June 27, 1924, daughter of Otis and Sally (Nelson) Manley, in Belvidere, IL. She was a lifelong resident of Belvidere. Mary Jane married Kenneth Spencer on October 27, 1944. She was employed as a nurse for several area doctors' offices. Mary Jane was a member of First United Methodist Church, Belvidere. She belonged to the Auxiliary at Maple Crest, Belvidere Women's Club, Sorosis, and United Methodist Women. She is survived by her son, Brian (Connie) Spencer; grandchildren, Benjamin (Megan) Spencer, Greta Spencer.Preceded by her parents, husband, Kenneth; daughter, Karen; brothers, William and Robert Manley; and sister-in-law, Harriett Manley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Saint Jude's Children's Hospital or to the ASPCA.
