Obituary

Mary Josephine Moss, 80, of Belvidere, IL passed away on June 27th. She was born on May 31, 1926 in Flagg Township, Ogle County, Illinois to David and Fleeta (Holloway) Tracy. She spent her childhood in Ina, Illinois. She married Mervin Willis Moss on December 14, 1945 in Mt. Vernon, Ill. upon his return from the European Theater in WWII. They made their home in Belvidere and were blessed with 45 years together. Mr. Moss preceded his wife in death on May 5, 1989. She led a full an productive life. Her attitude and love of life was both an example and inspiration. Her giving heart and generous ways touched the lives of many people. She was well known throughout the area for her jams and baked goods. Until she was incapacitated with Alzheimers. Mary was very active in her church, East Park Baptist and loved to travel. She had been a longtime member of the Sinnissippi Quilters. Over her lifetime, she had made many beautiful quilts and was recognized for he exceptional use of color. She is survived by her son, Dale (Bonnie) Moss, Belvidere; two daughters, Linda Moss, Flagstaff, AZ; Cynthia Moss, Belvidere; two grandchildren, Aileen Castro, Flagstaff, AZ; James Khani, Minneapolis, MN; her brother, William (Mary Evelyn) Tracy and sister, Louise (Perry) Thomas, both of Mt. Vernon, IL, many, many, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, David and Fleeta Tracy; brothers, Dwight McConnaughhay, George Tracy; sisters, Marie (McConnaughhay) Ashley; Freda (Tracy) Houtz; Betty (Tracy) Woodward and her beloved niece, Elaine (Boots) Lueke.
