Mary M. Maxam, 86, of Rockford, died Sunday, September 14, 2008 in O.S.F. St. Anthony Medical Center following a short illness. She was born July 9, 1922 in Corona, California, the daughter of Jesse and Bertha (Naylor) Nowels. She and her husband had been longtime residents of Rockford but retired to Cape Coral, Fl. Mary married Melvin Maxam on February 16, 1946. She was employed as a bookkeeper for several different companies. She and her husband were members of the V.F.W. in Cape Coral and the Elks Club. Mary is survived by her sister, Marjorie Lindvall and a niece, Teresa (Ken) Ferguson, both of Belvidere; four great nieces; 1 great nephew; two great great nieces and one great great nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
