Belvidere, IllinoisMary Lou Kortte, 75, of Belvidere, IL died peacefully, Thursday afternoon May 20, 2010 in the loving care of her family after a lingering illness. Mary Lou was born October 16, 1934 in Calvin Park, IL the daughter of Charles and Lillian (Sell) Houtz. She married George Kortte, Sr. on October 5, 1956 in Sycamore, IL. Mary Lou's working career was devoted to cooking. She worked for the DeKalb County Nursing Home and retired from Northern Illinois University. Besides cooking, Mary Lou was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and a member of the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church. She is loved and will be missed by her children, Donald Kortte of Rushville, IL, George (Julie) Kortte, Jr., Larry (Carol) Kortte of Belvidere; grandchildren, Chad (Crystal) Hoppe, Alicia Kortte, Raymond Kortte, Kim Jackson, Crystal Maxwell, Nichole Maxwell, Larry Maxwell, III; great grandchildren, Caden Hoppe, Emma Jackson, Christina Marquez, Larry Maxwell, IV; sister, Fran (Fred) Jorgenson of Genoa, IL. Mary Lou is predeceased by her parents; husband; brothers, Elmer, Floyd, Ed and Harold; sisters, Betty and Alice.
