Rockford, ILMartin Eugene Nilsen, 86, of Rockford and formerly of Belvidere went home to be with Jesus after dying peacefully, Sunday morning, November 10, 2013 in Fairhaven Christian Home with his loving family present. Martin was born September 24, 1927 in Manchester Township, IL the son of Hans and Beulah (Hinkley) Nilsen. He married Norma Austin on August 19, 1950 in Rockford. Martin retired as an inspector from Sundstrand after 43 years of service. He was a member of the Sons of Norway, enjoyed gardening, canning and fishing with his brothers. He cherished time Salmon fishing with his wife and spending time and helping his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Martin is loved and will be missed by his wife, Norma; children, Kathi (Patrick) Otten, Caryl (Rodger) Hay, Debra (Paul) Triolo, Martin C. Nilsen; sister, Eunice Hartley; twelve grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. Martin is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Marvin, Robert, Thomas and Clifton; three sisters, Bernice Noth, Dorothy Wallace, Lola Nilsen; granddaughter Alyx Nilsen.
