IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Martha Mae
Suhr
August 4, 1941 – April 20, 2025
Martha Mae Suhr, a beloved mother, grandmother, and dedicated community servant, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2025 at the age of 83. Born on August 4, 1941, in Stoughton, Wisconsin, to Lucille Whitlock and Ingwald Murkve, Martha lived a life full of passion, purpose, and creativity.
Martha's deep commitment to her community was evident in everything she did. She served as the Clerk for the Village of Poplar Grove for over 30 years, where her unwavering dedication made a lasting impact. She also served as a board member of the Capron Rescue Squad and was actively involved with the Women of the Moose, always striving to support and uplift those around her.
A woman of many talents, Martha had a remarkable gift for the arts. She was a skilled wedding cake baker and decorator, known for creating stunning, memorable confections. Her creativity extended into oil painting, ceramics, ornament painting, sewing, and upholstery. Her hands were rarely still, and her heart was always in her work.
Martha's love extended deeply to animals, especially her cherished fur grandchildren—whom she adored. Her presence was warm, her spirit strong, and her laugh unforgettable.
She is joyfully reunited in Heaven with her parents, Lucille and Ingwald Murkve, her first husband, Donald Suhr; her second husband, John Addams; her sister, Lois; and her beloved daughter, Tiffany.
Martha is loved and will be missed by, her son, Douglas (Stephanie) Suhr of Rockford, and their children, Hannah, Keegan, Katelyn, and Aiden; and her daughter, Stevie Suhr of Austin, TX. She was loved beyond measure and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A visitation to honor Martha's life will be held Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 10am, at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, located at 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL, 61008. A funeral service will be held at 12pm, followed by the burial at Highland Garden of Memories.
