Martha Jane Morehead, 92, of Rockford, IL, passed away at home on Aug. 4, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born in Zion, Pennsylvania, April 27, 1932, to Miles and Florence (Neff) Bartley. She married Kenneth Morehead in Rockford on September 17, 1955. They had three children: Kim, Douglas and Suzanne.
She worked at Marshall Fields (CherryVale Mall) for 32 years and Macy's for 2 years before retiring. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Cherry Valley. She was an avid reader and liked taking care of her flowers garden.
She is survived by Kim (Mike Scholzel) and Douglas; 3 sisters, Rose, Dorothy and Vera; brother, Doyle Bartley, all from Howard, Pa. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Greg and Matt Scholzel, and Ashton Morehead; and 1 great granddaughter, Opal Morehead; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; daughter, Suzanne; parents; 3 sisters, Rebecca, Clara Belle and Ruth; and 3 brothers, Phillip, Carl and Donn; and 1 great grandson, Dakota.
There will be no visitation. Burial will be private at Flora Cemetery with cremation rites accorded per Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, Belvidere, IL.
