Belvidere, ILMarilyn J. Morgan, 80, of Belvidere, IL died early Monday morning, January 7, 2008 in Provena St. Anne's Center after a valiant battle with cancer. Marilyn was born in rural Belvidere, IL on October 26, 1927 the daughter of Axel and Hildur (Carlson) Swanson. Marilyn graduated from Belvidere High School. Marilyn married Junior W. Morgan on February 14, 1947 in Belvidere. She retired from the Belvidere Water Department where she worked as a secretary. She was a member of the John Hugo Kaiser Post 1461 V.F.W. Auxiliary and the American Legion Boone Post 0077 Auxiliary. Marilyn was also a 54 year member of the Belvidere Women's Bowling League.Survivors include her children, Diane (Stan) Bye of Dunmor, KY, Jerome (Marie) Morgan of Belvidere, Paula (Mike) Wares of Poplar Grove; grandchildren, Wendi (Terry) Creighton, Matt "Louie" Smith, Jamie Wares, Lindsay Wares, Caleb Wares; several step grandchildren, great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.Marilyn is predeceased by her parents, husband, Junior; sister, Verna M. Anderson and brother, Kenneth F. Swanson.

A memorial will be established with the American Cancer Society in Marilyn's memory.
