Marilyn H. Johnson, 73, of Poplar Grove, IL passed away unexpectedly, Sunday morning, September 14, 2014 in her home. Marilyn was born March 12, 1941 in Rockford, IL the daughter of Gilbert W. and Mildred (Anderson) Osberg. Marilyn was a graduate of North Boone High School, Class of 1959; and married Stanley A. Johnson in Poplar Grove on March 24, 1962. Over the years she worked for Sundstrand for a time and then for North Boone High School in the cafeteria from 1985 through 1991. Marilyn always was involved in farming and was very devoted to her children; she served as a room mother and field trip mother for her kids and was an avid supporter of her children's sporting events. Marilyn always gave of herself to others, she made things work. She was a member of Poplar Grove United Methodist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher.
Marilyn is loved and will be missed by her husband, Stanley of Poplar Grove; daughter, Julie (Alan) Ackerman of Caledonia; son, Dave Johnson of Rockford; daughter, Karen (Thad) Prevett of Oklahoma; sister, Margie Johnson of Belvidere; 8 Grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends. Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Allan Osberg and son, Dan Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 22, 2014 in Poplar Grove United Methodist Church, 105 E. Grove Street, Poplar Grove, IL with Rev. Christopher Druce Jones, officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, September 21, 2014 in Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Chapel, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL. Burial will be at Orth Cemetery. Memorials can be given in care of the North Boone Fire Protection District #3, 305 W. Grove Street, Poplar Grove, IL 61065.
