Marilyn A. Hammond, 67, of DeKalb, IL, passed away peacefully, Monday morning, February 13, 2017 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 23, 1949 in Chicago, IL, daughter of Louis C. and Rose D. (Petersilka) Gernenz. Marilyn married James Hammond on December 28, 2015 in Sycamore, IL. She was employed by Seymour of Sycamore, INC. Marilyn was passionate about cooking, fishing, horseback riding, and long drives in the country.

Marilyn is loved and missed by her husband, James; daughter, Dawn (Steve Hobbs) Serio; grandchildren, Joshua Serio, Maralina Serio, Kevin Serio, Jr., Nicholas Serio, Luke Hobbs, and Stevie Hobbs; step-children, Jeremy Hammond, and Jennie Hammond; step-grandchildren, Kyle Sauceman, Jacob Winters, and Jennifer Popp; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008. A visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, February 17, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Shattuck Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
