Marie Agnes Walters, 75, of Poplar Grove passed away in Rockford on November 6, 2016. She was born on August 1, 1941 in Chicago, the daughter of Edward Stroh and Francis (Dammer) Stroh. In 1961 she married David Nelson who preceded her in death in 1998. In 2004 she married John Walters who passed away in 2013.

Marie retired from Maple Crest Nursing Home in Belvidere. Prior to that she worked as an executive secretary for several years in Chicago.

Marie always looked forward to playing Bunco with her good friends as well as other games at the Candlewick Recreation Center. She had a passion for antique shopping, quilting, and crafting. Perhaps she will be most remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and a loyal friend. She taught her children how to be strong and always end a conversation with 'I love you' and 'hugs.'

She will be missed and cherished by her children, Suzanne (Matt) Varner, John (Jane) Nelson, and Christine (Mike) Loftus; grandchildren, Heather (Mark) Rospierski, Melissa (Brandon) Bozak, Ryan Iwinski, Hilary (Joe) Bostick, Olivia (Jordan Pearlman) Nelson, David (Katie Koziol) Mansanarez, Nicholas (Megan) Mansanarez, and KaitlynTelutki; great-grandchildren, Brentley, Jayden, Davis, Emmalee, and Benjamin; brother, Ed (Linda Sue) Stroh; sister, Cheryl (Bob) Blume and all members of the Walters extended family.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands, David Nelson and John Walters.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 10 at 12:00 P.M. at Anderson Funeral & Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Avenue, Belvidere, IL., Rev. John Brennan, officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:45 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial at Belvidere Cemtery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
