Marie Garrett, 100, of Knoxville, Tennessee, formerly of Belvidere, Illinois, passed away on July 26, 2026.

She was born on July 28, 1925, in Chicago, Illinois, to Charles and Rose Gebhardt.

Marie was devoted to her faith and family. She was known for her kindness and caring nature. She worked for many years at as a book keeper Glenbard North High School.

Marie was married to her beloved husband, Harvey Garrett, for 49 years. Together they raised three sons. They built a loving home and raised their family with faith, love, and strong values. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many extended family members she cherished.

She is survived by her sons, Charles (Kathy) Garrett and Dave (Jeannie) Garrett; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; as well as many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Garrett; her son, Bill Garrett; her parents, Charles and Rose Gebhardt; and her brother, Charles "Charlie" Gebhardt.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 30, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL 61008.

A Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, July 31, at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 402 Church St., Belvidere, IL 61008. Burial at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Wheaton, IL. Assumption's Chapel committal service will be at approximately 12pm.

In lieu of flowers donations in her memory can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s hospital.
