Belvidere, ILMarian B. Duke, loving Mother, Grandmother (Nan) and Great-Grandmother, of Belvidere, IL died Thursday afternoon, August 25, 2011 in Swedish American Heart Hospital after a sudden illness. Marian was born July 13, 1920 in Boone Co., IL the daughter of Herman and Frances (Walgren) Hermanson. She married Ermel "Jack" Duke in Boone Co in 1937. Marian formerly worked for Barber-Coleman; and also worked as a waitress at the Faust Hotel and also in Harvard, IL. She enjoyed sewing and baking. She crocheted many quilts and bedspreads that will be cherished. Marian was a member of Poplar Grove United Methodist Church.Marian is loved and will be missed by her daughter Bette (Allan) Johnson; grandchildren Jay (Cindy)Johnson, Russ (Maggie) Johnson, Scott (Shelly) Johnson, Betsi (Ted) Morris, Roger (Julie) Stennerson Jr, Mike Wilkenson; many great-grandchildren; sister Darlene Payne; special friend Floyd Johnson. Marian is predeceased by her parents, husband Jack; daughter Pat; two great grandsons, a granddaughter and her brothers.During the last year Marian placed many smiles on the faces of the residents of Northwood Care Center. The family is grateful for the loving care given to Marian, by so many, during her stay at Northwoods.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given in care of the family to be established at a later date.
