IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marguerite Marie
Emilie Fowler
April 8, 1925 – January 3, 2022
Marguerite Marie Emilie (Becherer) Fowler, born April 8, 1925, in Leland, IL to Emma and Ernest Becherer went home to be with her heavenly father on January 3, 2022. She graduated from Leland High School and went on to graduate from Rockford School of Business. She was very proud of her perfect attendance in school and never missed a day. After graduation, she worked as a secretary in Chicago at the VA. She married Albert Fowler on September 22, 1951, in Leland, IL. Together they ran Fowler's Machine Shop and the family farm.
Marguerite was an avid wildlife and bird watcher, especially fond of the cardinals and deer. She loved her newspaper, reading the obituaries and doing crosswords and having coffee. She is surely having coffee in heaven with her son-in-law, Dennis. She was a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church, as part of the ladies circles and women of Zion. She coordinated and served the meals for funerals, Logos and salad luncheons.
Marguerite really enjoyed being able to live close to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Their visits were the highlights of her days.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl Sturges, Connie (Jeff) Rednour, Craig (Sherri) Fowler, and Curt (Penny) Fowler; grandchildren, Stephanie (Andrew) Cordray, Bryan (Angie) Bye, Jason (Olivia) Sturges, Ashley Pickel, Jessica (Frank) Hernandez, Mark (Melissa) Rednour, Holly (Jason) Charlesworth, Will (Pam) Fowler, Erica Carlson, Cody (Sadie) Fowler; and great-grandchildren, Emma, Ian, Jace, Emma, Glenn, James, Eve, Madison, Mason, Ellie, Ryan, Case, Cole, Deegan, Travis, Rilynn, Ada and baby boy due in April.
Marguerite is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert; daughter, Cindy Fowler; sons-in-law, Dennis Bye and Dennis Sturges; and granddaughter, Tanya Lynn Fowler.
The family would like to express their deepest thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at OSF St. Anthony for their quality and care and kindness. Thank you to her friend, Pastor Bill Nelson, with whom she shared many stories and desserts. Thank you to her Barnabas friend, Jeanne Marnen, who always made her laugh.
Visitation will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, in Belvidere, on Friday, January 14, 2022, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The family will be having a private funeral and interment with a celebration of life service planned for later this spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the family and will be donated to various causes that were important to Marguerite.
