Margaret Venezia age 84, former Rockford resident, and over 40 year resident of Belvidere was called home to the Lord early Monday morning January 8, 2007 in Northwoods Care Centre after a lengthy illness. Margaret was born February 22, 1922 in Barry IL, the daughter of Charles and Nellie (Woodward) Penny. Margaret married the love of her life Charles Venezia in Lawton Oklahoma in 1944. Margaret worked many years fulfilling her passion of music teaching piano lessons and playing the piano herself. She later worked for the Belvidere Daily Republican as a bookkeeper for 23 years before retiring. Margaret was a member of First United Methodist Church in Belvidere. She was a former member of Broadway Methodist Church in Rockford where she was involved with the children's choirs, and taught piano lessons. While staying at Fairview Residence in Rockford she played piano for services held at the Fairview Chapel. Margaret was family-oriented making sure they were taken care of first. She will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew her. Survivors of Margaret include her loving children: Linda (David) Poole of Polo IL, Penny (Stephen) Picken- Caledonia IL, Vicki (Jed) Jerozal- San Ramon CA, Betsy (Marlon) Huls- Bloomington IL, and Margo (John) Hohulin- Montara CA; 9 cherished grandchildren; and 6 adoring great grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 1 brother, and 1 sister. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff of Fairview Residence and Northwoods Care Centre.
