Obituary

Margaret Ann "Muffet" Flott, 47, of Sycamore, Ill., went to be with Jesus on Sunday, March 11, 2007 in the University of Wisconsin Hospital, Madison, Wisc. After a five month struggle with cancer. She was born in Belvidere, Ill. on August 22, 1959 to Fleming and Margaret Susan (Haugen) Flott. She grew up in Belvidere and graduated from Belvidere High School. She graduated with honors with a degree in Special Education from Illinois State University. "Muffet" was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She obtained a Master's Degree with Honors in Special Education from Northern Illinois University. She was employed for 26 years as a Middle School Special Education Teacher in Kaneland C.U.S.D. #302. She was a Volleyball Coach, Student Council Advisor, an announcer at track meets and a general "Cheer Leader" for all school activities. Everything was done with great enthusiasm and attention to detail. "Muffet" spent over 30 years as a volunteer for Special Olympics serving on the State Games committee and as a Coach for the Rockford Special Olympics team. "Muffet" was chosen "Volunteer of the Year" for the state of Illinois in 2001. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Belvidere and former member of the DeKalb-Sycamore Junior Women's Club. She also held memberships in the N.E.A., I. E. A. and Kaneland Education Association. "Muffet" was a great sports enthusiast, she supported the Chicago White Sox, Detroit Lions, L.A. Lakers and the Northern Illinois Huskies and of course, the Kaneland Knights. She was happiest when shopping for that special gift for a friend or relative. She is survived by her parents, and brother, William, all of Belvidere; cousins Cynthia Carpenter, South Carolina; Robert Flott, Jr., California; a aunt-in-law, Dorothy Flott, Chicago, Ill.; numerous second cousins, and all of her "kids" from Kaneland Schools and Rockford Special Olympics. She's looking down on them now with that beautiful smile. She was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents and two uncles.

Memorials to "Muffet's" two favorite things, Special Olympics of Illinois or Kaneland School District #302.
