Margaret J. Brown, of Belvidere, IL, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2026.
Born May 19, 1934, in Rockford, IL the daughter of John Galley, Jr. and Leah Peacock Galley.
Margaret spent her early years in Rockford, IL and Rockton, IL before her family settled in Roscoe, IL.
She graduated from Hononegah High School, Rockton, IL with the class of 1952.
It was in 5th grade at Roscoe Grade School that Margaret met the young man who would later become her husband. She and Charles Brown were married in the Roscoe Methodist Church on August 2, 1952, a marriage that included 66½ years of many happy memories.
Margaret enjoyed spending time with her family - her husband, children, grandchildren and extended family. Her interests included gardening, crocheting, jig saw puzzles, working word search and crossword puzzles and recently adult coloring books.
Margaret is survived by her daughter Pamela Brown-Mirenda, her son Lawrence (JoAnne) Brown; grandson Charles "Pat" (Sarah) Brown; granddaughter Marcella "Marci" Brown; sister Nancy Ewers; God Daughter and Neice Rhonda (Scott) Rivers; nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, cousins, and many friends and grand dogs Pearl and Luna.
She is predeceased by her husband, Charles on February 13, 2019; father - John Galley, Jr, mother - Leah Peacock Galley Von Guerard, stepfather - Harry VonGuerard, sister and brother in-law Frances and Robert Moore, brother and sister in-law John and Ruth VonGuerard, brother in-law Ronald Ewers and grand dogs Susie Q Maggie, Lucy and Olaf.

Alabet Temple No. 31, Daughters of the Nile, Princess Recorder for 14 years, Chorus member for 7 years. Freeport Scottish Rite, Past President of Woman's Club.
Margaret’s visitation will be Monday, August 10, 2026 between the hours of 5-7pm at Anderson Funeral Home. Located at 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. Belvidere, IL 61008. Funeral service will be at 10am on Tuesday August 11, at First United Methodist Church. Located at 610 Bonus Ave. Belvidere, IL. Burial will be at Willwood Burial Park.
