Manuel O. Horton, 63, of Poplar Grove, Ill. died Tuesday, November 4, 2008 in O.S.F. St. Anthony Medical Center Emergency Department following a sudden illness. Born July 27, 1945 in Bokchito, Ok., the son of Claude and Annie Marie (McCuley) Horton. He married Linda Berney in Poplar Grove, Ill. on April 27, 2002. Manuel was a professional truck driver, having worked with several trucking companies; retiring from Warner Enterprises. He was veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the army. He had many hobbies which dealt with the outdoors such as fishing, taking care of his 20 acres and looking after his animals which consisted of dogs, cats and birds. He was also an accomplished woodworker. He is survived by his wife, Linda Berney-Horton, of Poplar Grove; his children, James (Lisa) Horton, Poplar Grove, Laura (Stephen) Goodall, Machesney Park, Sherri (Christopher) McElhinney, Poplar Grove and Jon (Beckie) Wade, Poplar Grove; ten grandchildren; his mother, "Marie"; two brothers, Larry Watkins, Leland Horton; two sisters, June (Charles) Mitchell and Renee Hellinger; three half-sisters, Loretta Horton, Cindy and Tammy; two half-brothers, Roger and Greg Horton; and a close family friend, Debra Pritchard, and a host of other relatives and friends.
