Obituary

Lyman H. Taylor, 89, of Belvidere, IL passed away Sunday evening, September 8, 2013 in his home after a lengthy illness. Lyman was born March 18, 1924 in Belvidere, the son of Harlan and Bernice (Stroup) Taylor. He married Marilyn Burke on June 14, 1947 in Genoa, IL. Lyman was a hardworking and honest man who worked two years for the Belvidere Fire Department and then thirty-five years for Sundstrand Machine Tool, retiring in 1983. Lyman served our country in WWII from 1943 through 1945, in the European Theater where he received the Purple Heart. Lyman was a life member of the John Hugo Kaiser Post 1461 as well as being a member of the American Legion Boone Post 77 and the Belvidere Moose Lodge 295. Lyman loved to golf and enjoyed working in the garden; he was a kind and caring man who cherished his family and friends and always had a smile and a joke. Lyman was a member of St. James Catholic Church.Lyman is loved and will be missed by his children Terry (Edmon Battulayan) Taylor of Kalaheo, Kauai and James (Kathy) Taylor of Rockford; granddaughter Natalie; sisters Nona Woodcock and Pauline Reininger; special friend Alice Johnson and her family. Lyman is preceded in death by his parents, wife Marilyn; sisters Lucy, Virginia, Viola; brother David.

Memorials can be given in care of St. James Building Fund in Lyman's name.
