Lucile J. Ferguson, 102, of Belvidere, IL and formerly of Sharon, WI, passed away at Beloit Hospital on May 31, 2014 at midnight. Lucile was born on January 20, 1912, in Lake Geneva, WI, the daughter of Fred and Lucy (Lickert) Manley. She married Earl Lee Ferguson on June 28, 1928 in Chicago. He preceded her in death on November 14, 1975. Lucile worked at Admiral Corporation in Harvard, operated the Blue Bird Restaurant in Harvard, worked as a cashier for the Royal Blue Food Store in Sharon, WI, and retired from Wunderlich Meat Processor south of Sharon. She was a former Girl Scout Leader in the 1950's and bowled in leagues at the Sharon Bowling Alley for years. In her retirement, she served as a "Pink Lady" at St. Joseph Hospital in Belvidere and managed the library at Shadley Apartments in Belvidere. Lucile was an avid card player, enjoyed traveling, and loved to read and eat pie. She looked forward to annual family outings, especially celebrating her birthday with her boys and their families. She was a member of Grace Family Church in Rockford.
Lucile is survived by her three sons: Ronald (Chris) of Rockton, Jack (Diane) of Arlington Heights and Rick (Linda) of Seymour, IN; grandchildren: James Ferguson, Julie Ferguson, David Ferguson, Andrew Ferguson, Hans Ulmer, Timothy Ferguson, Michael (Tammi) Ferguson, William (Kathleen) Ferguson, Jayson (Ellen) Ferguson and Benjamin (Kimberly) Ferguson; 14 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren; niece, Shirley Sweatman. Her parents, a sister, Myrtle Sweatman, an infant brother and her grandchild Colleen Ulmer preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2014 in Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Chapel, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL with Rev. Keith Manley of Grace Family Church officiating. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Sharon WI.
