Lorraine E. Engelsen, 83, of Belvidere, passed away Friday afternoon, June 26, 2009 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 5, 1925 in Belvidere, the daughter of Richard and Ellen (Pageloff) Steinke. Lorraine married Robert B. Engelsen on March 18, 1944. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ where she had taught Sunday school and was a member of Cornerstones. Lorraine was a homemaker, creating many delicious meals while raising five children and caring for various pets as well. Lorraine was a competitive pinochle and dominoes player and had participated in activities at the Keen Age Center.Lorraine is survived by five children, Cheryl (Don) VanAbbema of Belvidere, Jack (Janet) Engelsen of Galva, IL, Julie (Chuck) Nelson of Phoenix, AZ, Judy (Mikel) Weaver of Forsythe, IL, Jayne Engelsen of Belvidere; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sisters, Bernace Williams of Arlington, TX, Dona (Irving) Crawford, of Belvidere, IL, Frances (Hal) Drake of Columbus, Ga; brother, Herman (Nelda) Steinke of Belvidere; several nieces and nephews.Lorraine is predeceased by her husband, Robert, her parents, grandson, Arik Engelsen; and her brothers, LaVerne and Richard.
