Lorna Nightingale entered eternal rest on January 31, 2020 in Belvidere at the age of 98.

She was born in Arlington Heights, the daughter of Sophie (Brockmann) and George F. Meyer. She was raised on a farm in Arlington Heights and attended St. Peter Lutheran School. After graduating from Arlington High School she worked at the local Western Union office and the War Ration Board office. Following that Lorna worked for many years at the Illinois Bell Telephone Co. in Arlington Heights.

On December 11, 1948 she married Arthur Nightingale. Together they farmed the family site on Palatine Rd. in Arlington Heights until the land was sold to a sub-divider. They continued farming in the Marengo area until moving to Belvidere in 1970.

Lorna began working at the Belvidere Board of Realtors MLS in October of 1970 and was executive officer until her retirement in 1999. Known for her ready smile and helpful ways, she endeared herself to many. Lorna was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and for many years a member of the Ladies Aid. She also belonged to the Belvidere group of The Home Extension.

Lorna is survived by her two sisters in law, Florence Kehe of Evergreen, CO and Irene (Richard) McGlynn of Rockford, IL; and many loving nieces and nephews relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; Arthur Nightingale; and brothers, Henry (Alma) Meyer and Kurt (Ruth) Meyer.

A funeral service will be at 12 p.m., Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Avenue, Belvidere, IL. Visitation will be at 11 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Keith Richard will officiate. Burial at Belvidere Cemetery.
