Belvidere, IllinoisLoren E. Perkins, 86, of Belvidere, IL died peacefully, Wednesday, March 20, 2013 in the comfort of his own home. Loren was born February 18, 1927 in Elgin, Illinois the son of Leonard and Evelyn (Noren) Perkins. He married Dorothy (Pearson) Miedema on August 18, 1989 in Elgin. Prior to his retirement, Loren was a brick layer for many years. Loren was deeply devoted to his faith; he was a member of First Baptist Church in Belvidere, where he was active in the Men's Group and Sunday School- Shepherd's Hook. Loren loved talking about The Word and was committed to the Boone County Jail Ministry and the Belvidere Mission. Loren also enjoyed reading, fishing traveling and tinkering in the basement. As a veteran; Loren served our country in the US Army, Battery C 913th Field Artillery Battalion, in Italy, from June 1945 through April of 1947.Loren is loved and will be missed by his wife Dorothy; children Daniel, Sally and Bonnie Perkins; stepchildren William, Gregory, Karen, Howard and Nancy Miedema; sisters Marge Kramka, Peggy Perkins, and Marian Best; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Loren is predeceased by his beloved son Mark; parents; sister Marilyn Hall and step-son Richard Miedema.
