IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Loreen I.
Burton
January 14, 1938 – July 3, 2024
Loreen I. Burton, 86, went to be with the Lord on July 3, 2024. Born on January 14, 1938, she was born and raised in Belvidere, IL. The daughter of Winifred (Thornton) and Frederick Koch.
Loreen graduated from Belvidere High School, class of 1956. She was lovingly known as "Cookie" by many of her classmates. She continued her education at Illinois State University where she received her bachelor's degree in education. Loreen was deeply dedicated to children. She worked at Crystal Lake and Caledonia Elementary School where she taught first and second grade
She was a deeply devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Loreen was very proud to show off photos of her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending her time reading, watching musicals or old movies, and above all, spending quality time with those she adored. Loreen loved traveling with her husband in their RV following her retirement. Her family has fond memories of Hallmark movies at Christmas time, chocolate chip cookies, and her love for the singer, Doris Day.
Loreen was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the VFW, and the American Legion. She volunteered regularly for Immanuel Lutheran Church, school, and Helping Hands. She was previously a member of the Illinois Education Association and the Junior Women's club.
She met monthly with the ladies of the class of 1956 for coffee and had strong friendships with her fellow teachers and church family at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family.
Loreen is survived by her daughters, Paula (Greg) Deppe, Kelly Daehler, Patrice (Mike) Bauman; grandchildren, Michael (Heather) Stone, Trevor (Sarah) Deppe, Alex Deppe, Emily (Jonathon) Bills, Rachel Daehler, Nicholas Daehler, Gray Bauman, and Tate Bauman; great grandchildren, Cooper, Chloe, and Camrynn.
She is welcomed into heaven by her husband, Richard L. Burton, her parents, and many aunts and uncles. A special thanks to Northern Illinois Hospice and caregiver, Gretchen Hamilton, for the compassionate care given to her.
Loreen's visitation will be Thursday, July 11, 2024 between the hours of 5-8pm at Anderson Funeral Home. Funeral services and burial at Belvidere Cemetery are private to the family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's hospital or Northern Illinois Hospice.
