Lois Lorraine Hyser, 85, passed away peacefully, at her farm with her family by her side, on January 13, 2023. She was born on May 8, 1937 in Garden Prairie IL, to Nancy (Cummins) and Erik Carlson. Lois was married to Wilbur "Sam "Hyser the love of her life, on December 15th, 1956 in Belvidere. He proceeded her in death in 2013. Lois was a dedicated mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was creative and enjoyed many hobbies and different types of work. She loved bowling and golfing. She was a talented quilter and crochet artist. Lois showcased her talent as a quilter and was often acknowledged with a winning ribbon. She had a tent at the Boone County Fair where she sold Barbie clothes and accessories that she had crafted by hand.

Lois enjoyed her farm life with her husband on their 10-acre farm. That farm life instilled work ethic in their children. In the garden they grew pumpkins and various vegetables. She attended community college to educate herself on how to provide the proper care and nutrition for her animals.  At one point they had 14 horses, donkeys, pigs, sheep, and always a dog running through the fields. Later in life she cared for chickens and sold their eggs. She enjoyed genealogy and preserving family history and ancestry.

Lois was devoted to raising her children, and supported them in their interests and goals . Lois  baked cookies and volunteered as a room mother at Kishwaukee grade school. Lois was strong in her convictions and passionate about her work. She spent time as a hairdresser, tax preparation professional, and primarily worked in printing and press work with the Boone County Shopper and Admiral Corporation. She will be missed by many.

She is survived by her children; Tony (Laura "Denise") Hyser, Michael Hyser, Barbara (Richard) Raczkowski, Donna (Jim) Howland, Nancy (David McCurdy) Hyser, Beth (Elmer) Nelson, 16 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren, brother; Howard (Joyce) Carlson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family whom she loved dearly, and can't forget about her 9 grand-dogs.

She is predeceased by her husband; Wilbur Hyser, her parents, Erik and Nancy Carlson, daughter Sandra Hyser-Cooper, son-in-law; Willard "Coop" Cooper, and her brother; William Carlson.

A visitation for Lois will be Wednesday, January 25, at 10am at Anderson Funeral Home. Located at 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. Belvidere IL, 61008. A memorial service  will take place following the visitation at 11am.

Inurnment at Highland Garden of Memories.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Belvidere food pantry and Anderson Humane society in South Elgin IL.
