Lois Ann Ries, 71, of Belvidere, passed away peacefully, on July 17, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born on January 22, 1945 in Tillman Minnesota, daughter of Ernest C. and Leona L. (Moser) Strain. She attended high school in Minnesota. Lois married her sweetheart, James R. Ries on October 12, 1963.
Lois worked as an inspector for Arnolds Engineering in Marengo, Illinois for many years, was a dedicated Cub Scout den leader and loved to care for people including her precious grandchildren.
She is loved and missed by her sons, James (Jayne) Ries and Joseph Ries; brothers, Duane Strain, Eugene (Barb) Strain, Tommy (Rosie) Strain, Morris Strain; sisters, Rosemary (Leo) Birkholm and Mary Isabelle; grandchildren, Michael Ries, Matthew Ries, Jessica Ries, Jamie Ries, Ernest Ries and Ethan Ries; great-granddaughter, Lillian Ries; and special friend, Todd Kimmey.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; brothers, Jerry, Donald, Jay and Raymond Strain; sisters, Frances Marie Fontenot and Judy Cronk.
