Obituary

Linda B. Burright of Rockford, IL journeyed home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at Presence St. Anne Center.She was born November 21, 1942 in Berwyn, IL the daughter of Burley C. and Alice (Brown) Grigsby. Linda attended Rockford Public Schools and graduated from Rockford West High School in 1960. She received Bachelor and Masters degrees in education from Rockford University. Linda married James L. Burright on November 24, 1984 at 1stPresbyterian Church in Rockford. She taught Chapter 1 reading and math in the Rockford Public schools, teaching at Beyer, Kishwaukee and McIntosh Elementary schools. She retired in 1994 and then tutored at Huntington Learning Center and also directed the 1stPresbyterian Pre-School. Linda made her spiritual home at 1stPresbyterian Church, now SecondFirst Church, for over 60 years, serving as Elder, Deacon, and Sunday School teacher. She loved making crafts, particularly stitchery projects. Linda loved hugs and laughter, children's literature, silly puns, potlucks with teacher or church friends, and most of all spending time with her family.

Linda is loved and will be missed by her husband, James; son, Jeffrey Manning; daughters, Julie Manning-Glovier (Lee Glovier) and Allison (Charles) MacMurchy; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Breanna Manning and son Jayden; Samantha Parr; Colton Parr; Elizabeth (Kyle) McVay and sons Connor and Wesley; Chad (Caitlin) Glovier; Zachary (Dolly) Glovier and daughter, Mila; mother in-law, Joyce Burright; and many loving nieces and nephews, extended family, as well as her church family and teaching community. Linda is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lucy Burright; brother, Bill Grigsby; step-father, Lester Schave; step-brother, Floyd Schave; father in-law, Leon Burright; mother in-law, Dorothy Manning; and nieces Andrea Drummer and Trisha Manning-Curp. The family would like to thank the staffs of Presence St. Anne Center and Hospice Care of America for their loving care and compassion.

The memorial gathering for Linda will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., Saturday, February 29, 2020 at SecondFirst Church, 318 N. Church Street, Rockford with The Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Rev.Rebecca White Newgrenand Pastor Becky Erbe,officiating.
