Obituary

It's with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Lewis D. Bird Jr., also known to his loved ones as "Jack", on April 24, 2023 at the age of 80.  Leaving behind a lifetime of memories and a legacy of love. Born on June 11,1942, in Elgin, IL....Jack lived a full and passionate life......

To his adoring Family, Jack was a "Knight in Shining Armor", a true Hero in every sense of the word. His infectious smile and larger-than-life personality made him the life of the party, and his love of his family knew no bounds. Jack is survived by his wife Bernadette of 56 yrs. His son Michael, daughter-in-law Natalie, and Jennifer, his daughter, will forever cherish the time they spent with their father. Jack's eight Grandchildren will always be grateful for the love and wisdom he shared with them. He is also survived by his Favorite Sister-in-law, Madeleine, who despite being a pain in his side, he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy; his father Lewis Sr. his sister Sandy and brother-in-law Gene; and his beautiful daughters Dawn and Lisa...

Jack's life was one of adventure and service. He proudly served in the Army in 1965, a time when duty and honor were first and foremost... After his military service, Jack worked tirelessly as a truck driver, delivering goods to various companies. He eventually became self-employed driving his own truck and taking pride in his work everyday.

But Jack's true passion was found in the Great Outdoors. He loved nothing more than casting a line and feeling the tug of a fish on the other end..Fishing and Hunting with his father-in-law Dan and his Uncles was another favorite pastime, and Jack's peace in the solitude of the woods.

He was the life of the party and always had a joke up his sleeve. Whenever some one would ask "How are you Doing?" he would reply "Oh!, I'm just Old, Tired and Broke."

As we say Goodbye to Jack, we remember his life filled with joy, gratitude and lots of love. He touched the lives of so many, and his presence will be missed by all that knew him.  A memorial service will be held at the Bird House on a date and time to be announced.. A fitting tribute to a man who cherished his family above all else. Jack will forever be etched in our hearts as a place where we honor his memory of a beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle and friend.

Rest in Peace, Jack. Your light will continue to shine bright in the Hearts of those who Love you....
